Not very often I get a couple that does two engagement sessions. Usually it happens when your couple love fashion and enjoy dressing up. I've worked with Olu and Dupe before in Nigeria covering their Nigerian Traditional Wedding in Lagos. Having had that experience with them really added a new dimension to their engagement session. You might be wondering, aren't they married already? Why do an engagement session in that case. Most Nigerian couples have two wedding ceremonies (Nigerian traditional wedding and a blessing). It's very common to do an engagement session between the two events.

I always enjoy shooting engagement sessions in New York City. It's actually of the reasons I moved here. The environment has so much to offer from plain simple backdrops to complex designed murals. Sometimes the ceilings of a popular bar will offer so much in terms of inspiration which is what we had in this engagement session.
Asim and Ashley a couple who have already gotten married now (check out the featured sneak peek to their wedding posted few weeks ago) chose a very lovely set of locations. I remember Ashley in particular requesting a shot next to Eduardo Kobra's vintage mural in Chelsea as it's one that really depicts hers and Asim's personality. Vibrant and romantic. So much chemistry here between them that they danced throughout most of the session in front of the beautiful art piece. We then shot their second and elegant look at a very beautiful hotel in Wall street. I must admit I would never have thought to shoot downtown before this engagement session.
We flew out to San Francisco to get this engagement session done. We wanted to get a very different feel from their local resident city which is Houston. I was introduced to Adeniye first then Ani while I was shooting a wedding in Houston. They were the most relax couple I'd ever met. The day we met we immediately hit it off, Adeniye was sharing her interest in interior design which in a way lead to the choice of location for their engagement session. Enjoy!
I was very lucky to have shot Ibukun and Tolani's engagement session earlier this summer. I was ws referred to them by Tolani's sister who's wedding I had shot the previous year in Houston. I haven't blogged that wedding yet (one day I'll get round to it as it is one of the most beautiful weddings I've photographed). Ibukun and Tolani have such amazing chemistry quite different from most couples. They share their relationship interests on their YouTube channel which is where I got to know a lot more about them. Tolani is a really talented lady with interests including Hair and Make up, they both are engineers with who love to dance when they unwind. With so many creative interests it was hard not to feel intimidated doing their engagement photos. With the help of Chioma from Dure Events, we decided to present a different side to their personality by doing a very "Glam" session, quite different from what I usually do with couples. We got them into very stylish attire and took them to the docks East of Houston where we got to do half of the shoot on a boat then we did the remaining part of the shoot in the prestigious Omni hotel presenting their more elegant side of their personality.
